A retired first school teacher, I added to my existing hobby of photographer almost two years ago, when I attended a writing class. I have had a few short stories gain success in competitions or online publication, and recently one narrated by a professional actor on audio.

At the start of the COVID19 pandemic I found it very difficult to concentrate on writing, but one of the things we appreciated being able to do in the lockdown in England was to go for a walk. My sister and I, hundreds of miles apart, started sending each other a photo of a different flower every day, and I found I was able to enjoy writing short pieces again in response to the floral prompts of the zen garden club. I like thinking up ideas that emerge from the photographic and poetic briefs.

Being connected with Art UK through photographing local sculptures for them, I recently developed my knowledge of art history through some of the online courses that have replaced face to face activities in recent months.
